Chris Bartlett
Chris Bartlett 5/2/1945 – 23/12/2011
Amongst Chris’ many achievements was the formation of the Mudcrabs – Cooks river Eco-volunteers. Chris’ dedication and passion for natural resource management was an inspiration for much of the bush regeneration that has occurred along the Cooks River.
Rosedale Reserve was the site of Chris’ initial riverside work and stands as a living example of how a barren piece of riverside land can be transformed into a natural bush setting teaming with birds and biodiversity. Chris inspired the local Cooks River community to help him realise this dream.
Chris’ knowledge and passion for native plants and bush regeneration were infections and he inspired the Mudcrabs to expand their bush regeneration work to other sites along the Cooks River. Chris also did volunteer bush regeneration with the Wolli Creek Preservation Society, the Inner West Environment Group, the Greenway and Conservation Volunteers Australia, just to mention some of his other interests.
Chris’ work was acknowledged with the award of City of Canterbury’s Citizen of the Year in 2008.
